| OBJECTIVE: The objective of this plenary session it to explore the nature of demand for health systems research, probing into gaps between the demand for evidence and the supply by researchers. Presentations will discuss applications of contemporary theoretical frameworks that guide thinking on knowledge translation, establishing a platform for more specific presentations. |

| This presentation will describe what we know about what raises demand for the knowledge from health systems research amongst health system policy-makers and health programme managers, and what makes it easier and more likely that they will use this knowledge. It focuses mainly on the national level of low and middle -income country settings, but also includes some sub-national focus and the context of international influences. The presentation will draw on the Symposium background paper authored by Rene, including the evidence from illustrative case studies and key informant interviews from low and middle income countries. |
